Among the symptoms of the ABR syndrome (All But Research), are researcher’s block during thinking, creating or writing. They are frequent when undertaking writing tasks such as a research project, thesis, dissertation or faculty-promotion research reports developed over long periods of time. In this article we analyze researcher’s block symptoms are analyzed and specific intervention activities to overcome them are described. We delineate a research project management system which includes techniques to increase the flow of ideas and verbal fluency using creative processes. These techniques are used in combination with strategies for planning, systematic practice, time and tasks management, continuous supervision and personal and group consultation. Application of this system with graduate students and faculty showed an increase in research productivity (accomplished objectives, time spent on the project, number of pages written), both in terms of products and processes.
